Mr. Kiyoshi Mori, Director General , Global ICT Strategy Bureau , MIC of Japan visited the Philippines for plenary session of the 1st International Cable TV Conference and Products Exhibits at Crown Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City , Philippines last November 11, 2014.
Transpired from the seminar /forum an urgent need for the Philippines to have " Digital Super highway ( Infrastructure) in order to have a competitive national edge over its Asean neighbor in the upcoming ASEAN Integration 2015.Leaded by the Japaneses successful model of migration from analogue to digital terrestrial and fiber optics data delivery , the Philippine found its strong buddy in the personification of Japanese high edge technology.
Mr. Kiyoshi Mori, citing Japan as the third largest economy is definitely have a new business proposition to the Philippines, this could be done by " creating a trusty worthy business relationship".
Usec.Louis Napoleon C. CasambreExecutive Director of the information & communication technology , talked on the current impediment in the telecom industry that causes its lethargic monopoly is the RA 7925 of 1995. Given with the current restrictive laws , efficient adoption , navigation of the new technology is off question.
Ms. Estrella Neng Julian Tamano , emphasized the needs to re examine the RA 7925 which hinders telephone operators to expand connection to countryside . This causes heart ache to relatives of OFW who needs internet connections for to keep communication open.
The Japanese MIC, gave an assurance of pledge to the Filipino to subsidized the Philippine digital backbone and leads the Philippine towards a smooth transition of migration from analogue to digital virtual runs economy.They are willing to set up factories, thus further re training Philippine telecom technician of National Telecom and Tesda for the Philippines to be able to attained its goal of 2015 TV white space".
There will be a regular Japan - Philippines telecom dialogue and consultation as being ensured by both camps.
Hon. Gamaliel A. Cordoba , Commissioner of the National Telecommunications Commission personally gave thanks and commendation with all Philippine telecom stake holders, and Japan MIC Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication for its unwavering support for the Philippine vision of fully integrated virtual, digital infrastructure to come into a reality.
The national telecom and MIC have been into a series of consultative meeting since January for a technical seminar, March for spectrum planning, June for frequency planning, September public hearing for the proposed IRR.This all happened with these year . Both camps have been positive on the belief that the best is yet to come . Its been here , during the start of the 1st International Cable TV Seminar.
