Ateneo De Manila University rolled up the "The Thirteen Jaime Annual Memorial Lecture on Public Service in Business and Government ".


Ma. Isabel G. Ongpin concluded the one day lecture of Alexander Pama  Administrator , Office of Civil Defense, DND and Executive Director , National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council , on the topic " Confronting Disasters: Changing Paradigms " with a positive note .

" The need to have collective tomb marks , memorial for those "despirados" until now missing or unidentified victims of Yolanda ( Haiyan Storms) in Leyte Tacloban and Samar . Because alive casualty and death are all important to all of us", the comforting parental words of Mrs. Isabel G. Ongpin.

She thus  mentioned  and request to all attendee of the lecture and for all the Filipino , "to follow her column in Manila Times (every Friday) especially this coming week issue " for she highlighted the immediate need to draft a law , giving importance on the socio psychological solutions ( mental rehabilitation) for those calamity survivors ".

" It is because the trauma brought about by this tragic calamity will linger on for the rest of the  lives of these survivors ".

This is Mrs. Ongpin response to the suggestion of former Senator Shahani.

Merlito Salazar, brought out the issue to further revive and re organized the  AFP reserve force for disaster relief operations not only during calamity strikes. For mobilizing some of the AFP forces for these purpose requires some remuneration for which the department cannot afford to shoulder. Because the money now being circulated for the entire AFP force have been good enough for the retirement of the old members of AFP. There is a need for capital and human infusion in the pipelines of national disaster relief and operations to carry the mandates of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management .

Your truly brought out the issue of further re alignment of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management  Council programs and process to avoid over lapping, collision of concerns on the ground while carrying out the rescue, relief  ,rehab  and reconstruction operation. A single disk of from the said office should be installed coordinating those active ngo's , international relief operations , local government units , local and international volunteers.


Mr. Alexander Pama, emphasized above the strength of his core command and duty of his office in three major C's .Capacity , Capability and Credibility is all , that his personal commitment why he believes his department will not bound to fail in carrying out , the very mandate of the NDRRC department.

Joining in the one day of lecture were the noted  Ateneo Personalities . Atty . Jaime G. Hofilena L1B, Vice President for  Social Development Ateneo De Manila University and Dr Antonio Gabriel M. La Vina , JSD .
